Gelatin and Powdered Sugar Fondant
Love cakes covered in fondant? Make the cake, the fondant, and the decorations at home! With this gelatin fondant you can build any cake — for kids, for adults, for the holidays... The ingredients are simple, and the rest is up to your imagination.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Measure out the ingredients.
-
Step 2:
Cover the gelatin with room-temperature water.
-
Step 3:
Mix well and leave it for about 20 minutes.
-
Step 4:
Set the gelatin over a double boiler and add the honey. Warm the mixture well until it's fluid and smooth.
-
Step 5:
Sift the powdered sugar and make a well in it.
-
Step 6:
Add the gelatin-honey mixture. Stir with a spoon at first, then continue kneading on the counter by hand.
-
Step 7:
As you go, add coloring for a perfectly white fondant. After that you can add other colors too. Without the white, the fondant is a milky shade, and colored fondant won't be as pure or vibrant.
-
Step 8:
Wrap the finished fondant in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for 30 minutes. To make the fondant easier to roll out, dust your surfaces with powdered sugar or starch.
- Enjoy!
