Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 20 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make bagels with marmalade? Prepare the ingredients. Take flour of the highest grade, wheat. Margarine should be cooled (you can replace it with butter), we will chop it with a knife with flour.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Beat eggs into a bowl and add sugar.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Mix eggs with sugar until light foam. You can do it with a whisk or a mixer.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Sift flour on a table or cutting board. Add baking powder, mix. Put the margarine on the flour and start chopping it into small pieces with a knife, while mixing with the flour.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Then rub the flour and margarine into crumbs with your hands - you can, of course, use a knife, but do it much faster with your hands. Then you can do it in two ways - mix the crumbs in a bowl with egg mixture, or you can make a recess in the flour crumbs and pour in the liquid mixture, and then, gradually collecting the crumbs around the edges, knead the dough. Today I used the second method. Flour may require a little more or less than the volume specified in the composition.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

So, collect the flour in a hill, make a hole in it and pour the beaten eggs into this hole. Collect the flour crumbs from the edges to the center, kneading the dough. Focus on its appearance. The finished dough turns out smooth and even. Put the dough in a bag and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Meanwhile, prepare the marmalade, cut it into long slices along the length of the future bagel.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Take the dough out of the refrigerator and divide it into 3-4 parts.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Roll each piece thinly into a circle and cut into 8 pieces if you want large bagels.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Or 16 pieces if we want small bagels.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Put a piece of marmalade on each part. And, of course, marmalade can be replaced with thick jam or jam, the main thing is that the filling does not leak out.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Twist the bagel, starting from the wide side, moving to the narrow side.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

Transfer the bagels to a greased baking sheet.

  14. Step 14:

    Step 14.

Do the same with the rest of the test. From these ingredients, I got 2 full pans of bagels.

  15. Step 15:

    Step 15.

Bake the bagels at 200 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Be guided by your oven, it may take less or more time.

  16. Step 16:

    Step 16.

    Have a nice tea party!

Marmalade can be replaced with jam or any other sweet filling of your choice. I remember how these bagels in my childhood stood in the oven, a magical aroma, and I was looking forward to when they would bake, and then grabbed them still hot... Of course, margarine is not very useful and it is better to replace it with butter, but sometimes I cook them in this version - very budget and very tasty!

Be prepared for the fact that you may need more or less flour than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !
