Step 1:
To make this delicious compote for winter, wash the apricots and remove the pits.

Pack the apricots tightly, cut side down, into clean, sterilized jars.

To gauge how much syrup you'll need, measure boiling water with a 1-liter measuring cup and pour it over the apricots in the jars.

It took 2 liters of boiling water for six 600 ml jars.

Cover the jars with sterilized lids and let the apricots warm through for 10 minutes.

Set a pot on the stove with 1 liter of water and 1 kg of sugar.

Add 1 teaspoon of citric acid to the pot.

Add another 700 ml of water, stir to make the syrup, and bring the sweet water to a boil.

Drain the boiling water you poured earlier from the cooled jars of apricots.
