Whole Pear Compote for Winter

A really tasty homemade compote we've all loved since childhood — beautiful and delicious. There were so many pears this year, and they were so pretty, that I couldn't resist canning them whole. They turned out amazing.

  • Prep the pears: trim off the stems, wash them, put them in a pot, and cover with cold water. Set the pot over the heat and wait for the water to boil, then boil the pears for 15 minutes over medium heat. Meanwhile, prepare and sterilize the jars. Pack the pears into the jars. Make the syrup: to the cooking liquid the pears were boiled in, add the sugar and bring to a boil, then add the citric acid. Pour the syrup over the pears and seal.
