Composition / ingredients
Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Dough. To prepare the dough for the rhubarb pie, we will need: flour, soft butter, sugar, milk, eggs, baking powder, ground cardamom and salt.
Step 2:
Mix flour, baking powder, cardamom and salt.
Step 3:
Beat soft butter with sugar into a fluffy light mass.
Step 4:
Add egg, vanilla powdered sugar. Beat until smooth.
Step 5:
Pour in the milk, add the flour mixture and beat again at low speed.
Step 6:
You should get a smooth homogeneous dough.
Step 7:
Filling. For the filling we will need rhubarb and sugar.
Step 8:
Wash, dry and peel the rhubarb stalks. Cut the petioles into identical cubes about 5 cm long . If the petioles are very thick, then cut them in half, otherwise they will drown in the dough.
Step 9:
Put the dough in a greased baking dish and smooth it out.
Step 10:
Spread the rhubarb cubes in a circle on top. Sprinkle the rhubarb with sugar on top. Then you will get a delicious sugar crust.
Step 11:
Bake the cake for about 40 minutes at 180 ° C.
I found this wonderful recipe in a cooking blog.I was attracted by the presence of cardamom in the test. And I was not mistaken in choosing this particular pie. He's just extraordinary! One dough is worth something, and together with rhubarb it turns out even tastier. And the sugar crust on the surface of the pie... In general, I highly recommend it. The result will please. The pie can also be made with sweet and sour apples (Antonovka is just in time), various berries, such as gooseberries or currants.
It is recommended to collect rhubarb for a pie already in the month of June. Its sour thick stalks will be an excellent filling for any baking – including sweet. I cooked rhubarb pies according to many recipes and they all turned out delicious in their own way.
