Cranberry Liqueur with Moonshine

A drink that needs no introduction. A completely natural sweet-and-sour spirit made with homemade moonshine. Flavor and benefit in every glass! Serve it chilled. And to my taste, this liqueur is especially good with game.

Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Frozen cranberries are considered best for infusing. Thaw them beforehand. Then put the cranberries in a colander and rinse them under running water. If the cranberries have a lot of plant debris (twigs or leaves), it's better to pick them over first. Let the water drain.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Using a mortar pestle or a potato masher, crush each berry so the cranberries release their juice into the drink better. Be careful - cranberries are very juicy and you can easily get stained with their juice.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Put the cranberries in a tall carafe, the one you plan to make the liqueur in.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Pour the granulated sugar into the carafe.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Pour purified, double-distilled moonshine, 40 proof - ideally 45 - over the cranberries in the carafe. Swirl the drink so the sugar starts to dissolve a little.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Cover the carafe with a paper towel folded several times and tie the neck tightly with twine or a rubber band. Leave the liqueur in a cool place for two weeks. Then strain it through a filter of cheesecloth or cotton wool, and be sure to squeeze out the pulp. Serve chilled.

  • This time I had large cultivated cranberries, but I've also made this liqueur with small berries. The taste is absolutely identical. Cranberries, by their natural qualities, beautifully mellow spirits - moonshine included. So a cranberry-infused drink has a wonderful, balanced taste and a velvety texture. To avoid filtering the drink before serving, you can skip crushing the cranberries with a pestle and instead pierce each berry with a thick needle or awl. Then the drink will be almost clear. But I don't have the patience for that. The liqueur goes down easily and pleasantly when chilled. But don't forget that excessive alcohol consumption harms your health and the health of those around you. Enjoy the tasting!
