Moonshine is a strong alcoholic product with a high alcohol content (often above 40 degrees). It is prepared mainly by running through a special braga unit. And that, in turn, is made from a variety of products, starting with potato peelings and ending with sour apples. For strength, sugar is almost always put in the brew.
Moonshine is most often found in recipes with these five products:
Moonshine has a pronounced, specific smell, by which it is easy to recognize. An expert, after tasting the drink, can determine what it was made from. But it is precisely because of this smell that it is rarely added to dishes when cooking. For example, they prefer to pour vodka or pure alcohol (which has no smell at all) into the dough for chebureks.
If the moonshine flavor does not cause rejection, it can be safely used in home cooking. Because it has all the properties of alcohol. So if the recipe says "add alcohol", you can replace it with moonshine.
By the way, to make this drink soft, it is often insisted on something more fragrant. As a result, wonderful moonshine tinctures are obtained.
For example, on honey, lemon, orange, generally on any fruit with a pleasant smell. Even on dried fruits it is possible.
