  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make chicken liver with mayonnaise in a skillet? Gather the ingredients you'll need. The chicken liver has to be thawed, so take it out of the freezer ahead of time and let it come up to room temperature.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Cut the chicken liver into pieces — no need to go too small. Heat the skillet until hot, pour in a little vegetable oil, and add the chopped liver. Fry it for 2–3 minutes, stirring.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Peel the onion, rinse it, and slice it into half-rings. Add the onion to the liver in the skillet. Fry the liver and onion together for another 5 minutes, until the onion softens.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Now add the mayonnaise. Season with a little salt and some spices, keeping in mind that the mayonnaise already contains salt. Stir the liver together with the mayonnaise. Cover the skillet and simmer over low heat for 10–15 minutes.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

The mayonnaise and onion make the liver juicy and create a bit of gravy. If you'd like more gravy, add a little water.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

The liver braised in mayonnaise is ready! Boiled rice or mashed potatoes makes a perfect side. Enjoy!

  • Important! The wrong pan can ruin even the best recipe. For all the details on choosing the perfect pan for different dishes, read here.
  • It's best to make the mayonnaise yourself — it'll taste better and be healthier. See some interesting homemade mayonnaise recipes here. As a dressing you can also use not just mayo but sour cream or plain yogurt. Use them on their own or mix with mayo in any ratio you like — that will cut the calorie count of the dish.
  • Here's an easy way to check whether the oil in the pan is hot enough: dip in a wooden spatula. If bubbles gather around it, you're ready to start frying.
