Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 h 20 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare the yeast dough for the loaf. Pour kefir and vegetable oil into a deep bowl. We heat the ingredients to 36 degrees, this can be done in a microwave oven at minimum power. The temperature of the liquid can be checked with a clean finger, it should be comfortable at this temperature.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Add sugar and stir until it dissolves. Pour in dry yeast (if desired, you can use pressed yeast), stir until the yeast disperses. We leave the mixture in a warm place, it is possible near the radiator or in the oven at a temperature of 40 degrees for 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

A foaming cap will appear on the surface of the mixture, which means that the yeast has been activated.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Add salt and sifted wheat flour to the mixture. Flour should be added in parts, each time mixing the mass with a spatula. For kneading yeast dough, it is better to use wooden spatulas or spoons.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

When the dough becomes difficult to mix with a spatula, spread it on the work surface, sprinkled with flour, and continue to knead the dough with your hands, if necessary, adding sifted wheat flour. Flour can go a little more or a little less, be guided by the consistency of the dough: it should be soft and elastic, slightly sticky to the hands. Put it back in the bowl, cover it with cling film.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Put it in a warm place for an hour. We crumble the dough that has come up and proceed to forming loaves.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Divide the dough into the desired number of pieces, depending on the desired size of the loaves. We form loaves of them, roll out the dough into a rectangular layer and roll it into a roll, pinching the edges. We put them in a baking dish, greased with butter. And put in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes. We make longitudinal incisions on the raised loaves. Lubricate them with beaten chicken egg on top.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Bake the loaf for about 30 minutes, until a golden crust forms on top. We take the loaf out of the oven, let it cool down and serve it to the table, with tea, coffee, milk, butter or other spreads. Bon appetit!

Be prepared for the fact that you may need more or less flour than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!
