Mimosa Salad with Canned Salmon
Every good cook has their own take on this salad — here's one of them! Once I tried this recipe with canned salmon, I started making it for every holiday — with a few tweaks of my own, of course. Mimosa salad is layered, not stirred together.

Cooking method
- Use a wide, shallow dish. First, cook the carrot and potatoes (in their skins) and hard-boil the eggs. Layer 1: spread the canned fish and mash it smooth with a fork (mash in a little butter for a juicier result). Layer 2: grate the boiled carrot on the coarse side of a box grater (you can grate it straight onto the dish). Layer 3: grate the egg whites on the coarse side — don't toss the yolks! Layer 4: grate the butter on the coarse side. Layer 5: grate the hard cheese on the fine side. Layer 6: grate the boiled potatoes on the coarse side. Layer 7: spread mayonnaise over the top. Layer 8: finish with the egg yolks grated fine over the mayonnaise. I recommend chilling it in the fridge for 1–1.5 hours before guests arrive, so it can soak together nicely. Your Mimosa salad is ready. Enjoy!
