Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make a Margarita? Gather the ingredients. You'll need tequila - the brand doesn't matter. For the orange liqueur, Cointreau is preferable - the classic choice. You can, of course, substitute another orange liqueur if you need to, but then it won't be quite a Margarita. We only need the juice from the lime, so you can use store-bought lime juice too.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Get a glass ready, wash it well, and dry it. Wet the rim of the glass and dip it in salt so a strip of salt clings around the edge.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Put some ice in the blender. How much is up to you. If you want to keep the drink strong, there's no need to dilute it with water - even in the form of ice.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Pour the tequila into the same blender.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

    Then the orange liqueur.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

And the lime juice. If you squeeze it straight from the lime, wash it first in very hot water or even scald it with boiling water - the lime will give up much more juice. And don't forget the sieve - squeeze the juice through it so no seeds get into the drink.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

    Blend everything.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Strain the drink through a sieve.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

For women, the cocktail is served with a straw. One serving is about 280 calories. ABV: 24-25%.

  • Historians agree on one thing: the cocktail is named after a woman named Margarita. But who she was - a local celebrity or the inventor's sweetheart - remains unknown.
  • The International Bartenders Association (IBA) suggests mixing the ingredients in a 7:4:3 ratio (seven parts tequila, four orange liqueur, three lime juice).
  • There are other mixing ratios too:
  • 2:3:1 (liqueur 33%, tequila 50%, juice 17%)
  • 1:3:1 (liqueur 20%, tequila 60%, juice 20%)
  • 1:1:1 (liqueur 33%, tequila 33%, juice 33%)
  • But the historically correct ratio is considered to be 2:1:2.
  • A Margarita is drunk in small sips, holding the drink in your mouth for a couple of seconds first, so it leaves a long aftertaste.
