Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to fry cabbage with egg in a frying pan? Prepare the necessary products. Cabbage is preferable to young, new crop. But last year's cabbage will do just fine. Take a bigger egg, it's best if it's a homemade egg. Before using, do not forget to check it for freshness: put the egg in a container with water at room temperature. If the egg sinks, then it is fresh, if the egg pops up, then it is not the first freshness and it is better not to use it

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Peel the onion, cut it in any convenient way. I cut it into small cubes.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Wash the cabbage, dry it, remove the top 2-3 leaves - they are usually the dirtiest. Cut the cabbage in any way convenient for you. I chopped it into thin strips.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan. The oil can be anything: inexpensive sunflower oil or expensive olive oil, but since we will fry it on it, it must be refined so as not to burn in a frying pan. Add the chopped onion and fry it until golden brown for about 5-7 minutes.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

    Add the chopped cabbage, stir.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Add salt. After a couple of minutes, the cabbage will give its liquid, become softer and decrease in volume.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Fry the cabbage and onion for about 10-12 minutes. Cabbage should be fried, not stewed. Therefore, the fire should be stronger than average. Fried cabbage is much tastier than stewed. At this stage, you can add your favorite herbs or seasonings to the cabbage: ground pepper, dried or fresh garlic, Provencal herbs, any greens or herbs.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Wash the egg well, its surface contains a lot of bacteria, so wash the egg well. Gently beat the egg into the cabbage.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Stir the dish intensively so that the egg is evenly distributed among the cabbage, and not fried entirely in one place. Cook for about 5-7 more minutes. Navigate by your plate.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Serve cabbage hot as a side dish to meat and poultry dishes or serve such cabbage with egg as an independent dish. Enjoy your meal!

So that the mucous membrane of the eyes is not irritated when slicing onions, rinse the onion and knife with cold water. The cutting board will not absorb the unpleasant onion smell if you rub it with a piece of lemon before slicing.

Use oil with a high smoking temperature for frying! Any oils are useful only until a certain temperature is reached - the point of smoking, at which the oil begins to burn and toxic substances, including carcinogens, are formed in it.
Unrefined oils, with rare exceptions, have a low smoking point. There are a lot of unfiltered organic particles in them, which quickly begin to burn.
Refined oils are more resistant to heating, and their smoking point is higher. If you are going to cook food in the oven, on a frying pan or grill, make sure that you use oil with a high smoking point. The most common of the oils with a high smoking point: refined varieties of sunflower, olive and grape.

Important! An incorrectly selected frying pan can ruin even the best recipe. All the details on how to choose the perfect frying pan for different dishes read here .
