Wieners Cooked in the Microwave
Fast, appetizing, nutritious, and affordable. When you can't be bothered fussing with pots and time is tight in the morning, the microwave comes to the rescue. Wieners are served with potatoes, porridge (again, you can use the instant kind), fresh herbs, and eggs (of course!). Mustard, adjika, and ketchup are there for those who like a little heat.

- I like to spend as little time as possible on breakfast. I recommend cooking wieners right in the microwave, since the time it takes comes down to just 1 minute!)
- Whether to remove the casing from the wieners is up to you. I'd advise removing it if the wrapper isn't a natural one, and leaving it on if it is. If you leave it, pierce it in several places with a toothpick so it doesn't crack and split open. Likewise, decide for yourself whether to add salt and spices to the water. Wieners are salty on their own, so it's a matter of preference. And, of course, mind what dishware you put in the microwave — it should be glass or microwave-safe dishes without shiny patterns. If your microwave has a "cook meat" function, choose that. If not, just use "reheat."
- Also keep in mind that you can cook wieners without water. In that case, they'll brown slightly — and without any oil. The procedure is almost the same: put the wieners (casing removed, or pierced if it's a natural casing) on a microwave-safe plate and run it on "reheat" for a few minutes (depending on the power of your particular microwave).
- 1) Take a glass container, put the wieners in it, pour in enough water to cover them completely, and add the spices. 2) Put it in the microwave on "reheat" for 2 minutes. 3) Take the wieners out of the microwave, drain the water, put them on a plate, and add fresh herbs. Enjoy your meal!
- Wieners are delicious served with mashed potatoes, fried eggs (for breakfast), cauliflower, or braised cabbage. With any meat sauce, ketchup, or fresh herbs. Insanely good with a bit of mustard!
