Cooking method

Cooking time: 15 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make cabbage salad with carrot and cucumber? Gather the ingredients you'll need. Remove the top 2–3 leaves from the cabbage. Wash any dirt off the cucumber. Peel and rinse the carrot.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Finely shred the fresh cabbage with a sharp knife and scrunch it a little with your hands. Why scrunch it? It's to make the cabbage softer and juicier in the salad.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Transfer the shredded cabbage to the bowl you'll make the salad in. Cut the cucumber in half lengthwise and slice it. If the cucumber is large, you can first cut it lengthwise into 4 pieces. Add the sliced cucumber to the cabbage.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Grate the peeled carrot on a coarse grater and add it to the salad bowl.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Dress all the ingredients with a little vegetable oil and lemon juice.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Add salt and sugar to taste. I like this salad with a hint of sweetness, so I add a bit more sugar than salt. You can also add a little salad seasoning or ground pepper. Go by your own preferences here.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Toss all the ingredients so the dressing spreads more evenly among the vegetables. If you like, add some chopped fresh herbs. Transfer the finished salad to a serving bowl and serve. It makes a great addition to meat dishes, especially kebabs. Enjoy!

  • When spring arrives, you want to liven up your diet with fresh vegetables. This cabbage salad is very versatile. For a flavor twist, you can add a little bell pepper or grated apple.
  • The salad is very tasty, fragrant, and super crisp!
  • If the skin isn't tough, damaged, or bitter, there's no need to peel it.
  • If you're using a ready-made spice blend, be sure to read the ingredients on the package. These blends often already contain salt, so keep that in mind to avoid over-salting the dish.
