Layered Salad on Waffle Sheets
A very unusual way to serve a favorite salad — surprise the family! Built on waffle sheets, this salad looks festive and appetizing, and the sheets add a little something to the flavor too. You can use waffle sheets of any shape — small round single-serving rounds, squares, whatever you like. The one thing to watch is the mayonnaise: it's very easy to overdo here. That's why you pipe on just a fine lattice of mayonnaise — never spread it over the sheets!

- Prep the fillings that go between the sheets:
- hard-boil the eggs, cool and peel them, and grate them on the coarse side of a box grater;
- peel and wash the carrot and grate it;
- coarsely chop the walnuts with a knife;
- put the mackerel on a plate and mash it with a fork;
- wash and dry the dill and chop it with a knife;
- grate the cheese.
- Now set a waffle sheet on a flat plate, pipe on a lattice of mayonnaise, spread the mackerel in an even layer, and top with a second sheet. Combine the carrot with the walnuts, add a little mayonnaise, mix, spread evenly, and cover with another waffle sheet. Pipe on another mayonnaise lattice, spread the grated egg over it, sprinkle with chopped dill, salt lightly, and cover with a waffle sheet. Pipe a mayonnaise lattice over the final sheet too, and sprinkle with the grated cheese.
- That's it — the salad is ready!
- Let it soak for just 15-20 minutes, then cut it into portions and serve.
- Help yourself and enjoy!
