  • Pancakes: Crack 5 eggs into a bowl, add a pinch of salt, add the flour, and stir. Then pour in the milk gradually — this keeps the batter lump-free. Stir the vegetable oil into the finished batter. I fry the pancakes in two skillets at once — it goes faster! Once the pancakes have cooled, I roll cherries up inside them (I can my own cherries in their own juice). Use sour cream that's around 15–25% fat so it isn't too runny. Whip the sour cream with the sugar, and the cream is ready. Stack the cherry-filled pancake rolls on a plate in layers, spooning sour cream over each layer. Layer by layer, my "Guguță's Hat" grows! Finish with a sprinkle of chocolate shavings for looks. The kids love not just eating this but happily pitching in to wrap the cherries and build the "Guguță's Hat" itself. Give it a try — you'll end up with a family masterpiece!
