The basis of Chinese oyster sauce is actually the oyster sauce itself. This is a liquid seasoning of a thick consistency, which is sold in glass bottles. The sauce has a piquant and slightly salty taste of oysters. It is made from real oysters with the addition of water, sugar and starch. Having appeared in China more than a hundred years ago, oyster sauce has become almost an integral part of Chinese folk cuisine. There is a peculiarity in the use of oyster sauce in cooking - it is used in recipes with a minimum number of ingredients, otherwise its taste is lost among the variety of other products.

Chinese oyster sauce is served with salads and side dishes - classic fried rice, rice noodles with pork, chicken in oyster sauce with nuts, spicy rice with shrimp, various soups, fried vegetables, omelette and many other dishes. This sauce goes well with meat, poultry, fish and seafood, various cereals and vegetables. It is combined with almost all dishes that have a salty taste.

In addition, Chinese oyster sauce is very useful due to the presence of proteins, amino acids, calcium, potassium, zinc, sodium and iron in it. Such a full-fledged complex of vitamins and minerals has a beneficial effect on the human body, increases its efficiency, gives strength.

Cooking Chinese oyster sauce is very easy and fast. You will need a small bowl to mix the products. It is necessary to pour the finished oyster sauce into it. Add soy sauce to the oyster sauce in a bowl and use a kitchen whisk to mix everything well so that the two sauces come together. Instead of oyster sauce, you can take liquid from under canned oysters, but you won't need the oysters themselves. Soy sauce at this stage can be replaced with teriyaki sauce.

After the sauces are mixed, add sugar to the bowl and whisk until the sugar completely dissolves. Try the resulting sauce and adjust its taste by adding a little oyster sauce, a pinch of sugar or soy sauce. It is recommended to add soy sauce a little at a time, so as not to over-salt the finished dish.

Ready-made Chinese oyster sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. It is best to serve the sauce with meat, fish and seafood dishes to further enhance the taste of these products. Enjoy your meal!
