Cooking method

Cooking time: 50 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Rinse the chicken fillet well under running water and pat it dry with paper towels. Cut the meat into small cubes or bite-size pieces. Give it one more rinse and let the water drain off.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Peel the onion and finely chop it.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Pour the vegetable oil into a deep skillet or sauté pan. Fry the chicken over medium heat, stirring with a spatula, until the meat turns white and lightly golden, then remove it from the pan.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Add the onion to the oil left in the pan and cook over medium heat, stirring, until it turns translucent and just starts to brown. Remove the onion, too, and add it to the bowl with the chicken.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Sprinkle the wheat flour into the same pan and cook, stirring with a spatula, for 2–3 minutes. Pour in the water and start stirring right away so the flour doesn't clump and the sauce doesn't scorch. As the mixture begins to thicken, pour in the cream (or thick sour cream thinned with water) and let the sauce simmer for a couple of minutes, stirring.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Season the sauce with salt, ground black pepper, paprika, and the garlic pressed through a garlic press; stir until everything is evenly blended in. Return the fried chicken and onion to the pan, stir, cover, and simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Add chopped, rinsed green onion to the chicken in the sauce — it makes the dish juicier and more fragrant. Stir, cook for another 2–3 minutes, then turn off the heat.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

The dish is ready. Serve it with or without a side, however you like. Enjoy!

  • It's easy to change this dish up — use different sauces for the chicken and pair it with different sides.
