Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make lavash with crab sticks and processed cheese? You'll need Armenian lavash (a wheat wrap works too). For the filling, choose tasty, good-quality crab sticks, a ripe tomato, processed cheese, garlic, dill (or any other herbs to taste), and mayonnaise (homemade is best, but store-bought works too).

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Grate the crab sticks on a medium grater.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Grate the processed cheese on a medium grater too. To make it easier to grate, put it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes first.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Wash the tomato, dry it, and cut it into small cubes. To keep the lavash from getting too soggy while it chills, it's better to remove the watery, seedy center of the tomato.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Run the garlic through a press (you can chop it very finely instead).

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Wash the dill, dry it, and chop it finely.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Combine the crab sticks, grated cheese, herbs, and garlic in a bowl.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

    Dress with mayonnaise.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

    Mix thoroughly.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10

Unroll the lavash sheet. Spread the crab-and-cheese mixture evenly over the lavash.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11

Scatter the tomato pieces evenly over the top of the lavash.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12

Roll the lavash up into a tight roll. Wrap the roll in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for 1-2 hours to soak through.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13

Cut the chilled roll into serving pieces and serve. Enjoy!

  • It's better to make the mayonnaise yourself - it's tastier and better for you. See some interesting homemade mayonnaise recipes here. You can also use sour cream or plain yogurt as a dressing instead of mayonnaise. Use them on their own or mix them with mayonnaise in any ratio you like - this will cut the dish's calories.
  • How do you choose good lavash? First, check the production date on the package. Don't buy expired bread. Fresh lavash should smell pleasant. Look it over carefully to make sure there are no spots or signs of mold.
  • How do you buy crab sticks the right way? Be sure to check the product's expiration date. Surimi (minced white fish) should be first on the ingredient list. Important! Don't buy the product if it has frost on it - that's a sign it's been refrozen. Fresh sticks should be free of gray and yellow spots, springy, and slightly moist. If the product is sticky, it's spoiled.
  • Lavash rolls and roll-ups are a versatile substitute for dough. If you don't feel like fussing with dough, you can wrap something tasty in lavash and either eat it as is, fry it, or bake it in the oven. I recently made lavash-and-cheese parcels - you can't tell the lavash from regular dough at all, it came out so soft and tasty. The variety of possible fillings is amazing, from crab sticks to mushrooms, meat, and vegetables. There are even sweet rolls now with farmer's cheese, fruit, and condensed milk.
