- Gather the ingredients: green cabbage, canned saury, green peas, onion, sugar, salt, and ground black pepper. The ingredients are simple, affordable, and inexpensive. Cut the green cabbage into thin strips or shred it. Put the cabbage in a deep bowl, add a pinch of sugar and salt, and scrunch it with clean hands so it softens and releases its juice. You can use canned green peas or fresh or frozen ones. If using frozen, it's better to cook the peas with spices so they're more tender and soft in flavor. Put the green peas in a heatproof dish, add a pinch each of sugar and salt, cover with clean water, and microwave for 5 minutes on full power. Drain the water and add the green peas to the bowl of shredded cabbage. Peel the onion, chop it finely with a knife, and add it to the bowl with the rest of the ingredients. If you like, you can also use green onion — it adds freshness and brightness to the dish. Open the can of saury, drain off the liquid, and break the pieces of fish up a little with a fork. Add the fish to the bowl with the cabbage. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste and dress with vegetable oil. If the saury was packed in oil, you can add a little of the liquid from the can, but not much. Mix the ingredients and the salad is ready. Sprinkle it with chopped fresh herbs and serve. This salad isn't just for when you need to throw something together quickly for a dinner for two or for guests. It's quite filling yet easy to eat. The makeup of this dish also makes it healthy. Canned saury is rich in vitamins A, B, and D, easily digestible protein, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and iron, which help prevent arthrosis, tooth decay, and osteoporosis, benefit the heart and brain, and are important for diabetes and thyroid conditions. Cabbage is a source of minerals and vitamins — mainly potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and sulfur, along with vitamins B, C, and P, which the body needs. Cabbage stimulates metabolism, has anti-inflammatory and anti-sclerotic effects, and strengthens blood vessel walls. Enjoy!
