Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to bake red fish in the oven? Prepare the ingredients. If you have frozen fish, defrost it by transferring it from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Choose a set of spices according to your taste and preferences.
Step 2:
Wash the red fish (I have freshly frozen trout) thoroughly, clean it from the films, if there are fins, remove them. Cut into portions along the ridge or into steaks. Season the fish with salt and pepper. You can use any red fish: trout, salmon or pink salmon. It is worth considering that if you use pink salmon, then this fish is not as fatty as salmon and trout, so you additionally need to lubricate the fish with vegetable oil.
Step 3:
Cut half a lemon into thin circles. Citrus fruits set off the taste of fish well, which in itself is almost tasteless. At the same time, red fish absorbs the aromas of spices well and its taste often depends on what accompanying products it will be prepared with. Fish and lemon and/or lemon juice is a classic combination, mandatory in most recipes where fish appears.
Step 4:
Peel the onion and cut it into rings or half rings. Onions will give the fish juiciness and a pleasant aroma.
Step 5:
Put a double sheet of foil in a small baking dish. This is necessary so that the foil does not break and the juice from the dish does not flow out of the envelope. Spread the chopped onion on top. Put the bay leaves and peppers on the onion.
Step 6:
Put lemon circles on top. A layer of onion and lemon when baking protects the fish from direct contact with the hot mold, so it will not burn and will not dry out.
Step 7:
Lay the fish fillet on the lemon slices. Pour lemon juice on top of the fish.
Step 8:
Carefully wrap the fish in foil, carefully gathering the edges over it so that the juice does not leak out when baking. Put the fish in preheated to 200 °From the oven for 25 minutes.
Step 9:
Carefully, so as not to get burned, unfold the foil envelope and serve the fish along with the onion and lemon to the table. If desired, you can sprinkle the dish with fresh herbs. Bon appetit!
