Classic Crab Salad (No Cucumber)
A bright dish for holidays and weeknights, made from simple ingredients! This classic crab salad skips the fresh cucumber, which helps it keep longer without losing its good looks. Napa cabbage and fresh dill give it freshness, juiciness, and a light touch.

- This is a quick "guests at the door" kind of salad you can throw together in no time, with inexpensive ingredients. Use good-quality crab sticks, fresh eggs, the leafy part of a napa cabbage, and a fleshy, brightly colored bell pepper. It looks appetizing and colorful on the table—serve it in a roomy bowl or in clear glasses. Start by boiling the eggs: put them in a pot, cover with cold water, and cook over low heat (this keeps the yolk juicy and the white soft and tender). Peel the eggs, cut them into small cubes, and put them in a mixing bowl. While the eggs cook, thinly slice the napa cabbage; lightly salt it and gently scrunch it, and sprinkle with a little lemon juice if you like. Seed the bell pepper and cut it into 0.8 cm (about 1/3 inch) cubes. Thaw the crab sticks ahead of time, remove the wrappers, set a couple aside for garnish, and dice the rest. Drain the corn well in a sieve. Wash, dry, and chop the dill. Add all the prepped ingredients to the eggs, season with salt and pepper, and mix. In a separate bowl, stir the minced garlic into the mayonnaise to make the dressing. Dress the salad and let it sit for 30 minutes if you have time, or serve right away. Before serving, garnish with a ring of sliced crab sticks. The salad has a pleasant flavor led by the crab with a zesty hint of garlic dressing. It's great for a holiday spread or a small gathering, as a light supper on its own, or packed for a picnic—hearty and light at the same time, and sure to please family and guests. It keeps in a sealed container in the fridge for 4–5 days.
