Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake simple oatmeal cookies? To make cookies, take oat flakes with a minimum percentage of flattening. That is, those that should cook longer. They contain the maximum amount of useful substances. Pour the flakes into the bowl of a blender.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Grind the flakes to the state that you like. You can try to turn them into flour. I prefer the cookie structure to be more heterogeneous. Put the flakes aside for now.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Beat a chicken egg into a bowl, add salt and all the sugar. Whisk the mixture until smooth.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

This consistency should be the basis for the test at this stage.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Add sunflower oil and soda, quenched with lemon juice. Stir again.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Add the oat flakes and mix the dough until smooth. Now it is convenient to do it with a tablespoon.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Sift the wheat flour of the highest grade into the dough in parts. Stir and look at the structure of the dough. If it sticks too much to the spoon, keep adding flour.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

As a result, the structure of the dough should still remain sticky and viscous. But it should keep its shape well. You can, of course, add more flour, in excess of the norm specified in the recipe, so that the dough can be rolled out with a rolling pin. But, in this case, most likely, the cookies after baking will turn out to be oak. It took me only half a cup of flour. That is about 100 grams.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

On a surface dusted with flour, form a ball of dough and flatten it. Now it will be convenient to cut it into eight equal parts with a knife. It is better to cut into segments, like pizza. So the cookies will turn out to be as identical as possible.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

With your hands slightly moistened with water, first form balls from the dough, and then flatten them to the shape of a round cookie. Spread the cookies on a baking sheet covered with high-quality baking paper. I use a special Teflon sheet. Bake cookies in a preheated 180 degree oven for half an hour. Everyone's time will vary. But focus on the structure of the cookie. It should dry slightly, and the bottom should be slightly browned.

The main thing here is not to overdo the cookies in the oven so that they don't look like crackers.

The finished oatmeal cookies are crunchy at the edges, but soft in the middle. The cookies turn out sweet, with a subtle taste of oat flakes and a delicate aroma. Perfect for hot coffee.

Be prepared for the fact that flour may need more or less than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. Read a lot of useful information about flour and its properties in this article!

Instead of sugar, you can use a sweetener that is not afraid of heat treatment.

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information in this article !

So that the oven has time to heat up to the desired temperature, turn it on in advance (10-20 minutes before the start of cooking).

Bon appetit!
