  • Cut the chicken into serving pieces, rinse well, pat dry, and fry in hot oil for about 10–12 minutes. For the sauce, peel the onion and garlic, rinse, and finely chop them. In a deep skillet, heat some sunflower oil and lightly sauté the onion and garlic, then add the washed, sliced mushrooms. Stir well and fry for about 4–5 minutes. Peel the tomatoes, dice them small, add them to the onion, cook over low heat, and pour in water or wine. Then add the chicken to the sauce and simmer until tender. Stir in the sour cream and paprika at the very end, then season with salt and pepper. Chicken paprikash is a hearty chicken dish and a classic of both Hungarian and Austrian cuisine. It pairs beautifully with sides like mashed potatoes or boiled rice. To serve, arrange the paprikash on a large, pretty platter and be sure to garnish with fresh herbs. Enjoy!
