  • We're going to make wonderfully fragrant mushroom-and-cheese toasts based on the famous recipe by Michael Smith. If you like a hearty breakfast, these toasts will hit the spot. Thinly slice the washed button mushrooms and fry them well in a preheated skillet. Toast four slices of bread in the toaster. Season the fried mushrooms with salt and pepper to taste. Finely chop fresh, washed parsley and stir it into the fried mushrooms. Arrange the 4 slices of toast on a plate and garnish with pieces of green onion and slices of fresh tomato. Spread the fried mushrooms over the toast. Top the mushrooms with smoked cheese that you've grated ahead of time on a fine grater. Place rings of sweet red bell pepper in the center of the plate. Serve the toasts warm with a cup of fragrant green tea with lemon. This recipe from Hungarian cuisine is a favorite among many women watching their figure. Mushroom toasts also make a great light dinner if you prefer low-calorie meals.
