Soup with Garlic Halushky (Dumplings)

Make a really tasty dish of Ukrainian cuisine! There are as many opinions as there are people — and that goes for food preferences too. But today's soup with halushky (Ukrainian drop dumplings) will win everyone over. It's quite simple to make, and its originality really wins you over. You can make it with a meat or vegetable broth, and flavor the dumplings with fragrant Italian herbs or, as in today's recipe, with garlic.

  • So, drop the diced potatoes into boiling water. Fry the small pieces of chicken in vegetable oil, then add the finely chopped onion and grated carrot. When everything is golden, add it to the broth, along with the celery cut into pieces. In a small deep bowl, mix the eggs, crushed garlic, and spices. Add the flour and salt. Using a wooden spatula, work it into a smooth, thick dough. Now carefully scoop up the dough with a teaspoon and drop it into the boiling broth. When the dumplings float to the surface, the soup is ready. Serve the soup with garlic dumplings garnished with chopped fresh herbs and a spoonful of sour cream. Enjoy!
