Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Gather what you need to make ginger tea with lemon. You'll need fresh ginger root (juicy, not old or dried out), half a lemon, and 2 cups (500 ml) of water. You can add sweeteners to taste: honey, sugar, or syrup. If you use honey, it's better to use a runny one. My lemon isn't very large. The water should be exceptionally clean, with no impurities or off-flavors.
-
Step 2:
Peel the ginger root (carefully shave off the thin skin) and cut it into small cubes. You can also grate the root on a fine grater. You can use a ginger root that's drying out (it'll already have lots of fibers), but the tea will have a more aggressively hot taste.
-
Step 3:
Put the chopped ginger in a saucepan, pour in the clean water, and bring it to a boil. Take it off the heat or turn off the stove. Let it steep for 5–10 minutes. The longer the tea steeps, the hotter its flavor.
-
Step 4:
Cut one whole round slice from the lemon half and drop it into a large serving mug. Squeeze the juice from the rest of the lemon however you like.
-
Step 5:
Strain the steeped ginger tea through a fine sieve and add the lemon juice. Stir. Add sweetener to taste if you like and stir again. Pour the finished ginger tea with lemon into the large mug with the lemon slice and serve. This drink is good both warm and cooled. Enjoy your tea!
- For variety and a richer flavor, you can add a few leaves of mint or lemon balm along with the chopped ginger. The tea will take on a minty note and become even more fragrant! Alternatively, try lime instead of lemon. The drink will get an exceptional flavor and aroma! An intriguing option for adventurous cooks and gourmets!
