Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Get all your ingredients ready ahead of time.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Knead a soft, not-too-stiff dough and let it rest while you make the pumpkin-and-onion filling.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Sauté the onion in a little vegetable oil until golden.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Put the pumpkin, cut into small cubes, in a deep bowl, add the sauteed onion, and salt to taste. Mix well so the salt dissolves and everything is evenly combined. Add a little ground black pepper if you like.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Roll the dough out into a large sheet about 1/16 inch (2 mm) thick.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Cut the sheet into long strips with a fluted pastry wheel. Pick whatever width makes it easiest for you to shape the flower buds.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Spread the filling evenly along each strip, keeping it closer to one edge since the bottom edge gets folded over. Roll the strip up like a jelly roll, pinch it tightly at the bottom, and shape it into a rose. Set the finished roses in a steamer and steam for about 30 minutes. This presentation is perfect for entertaining guests.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

If you're short on time, you can make plain manti the traditional way, or however you usually shape them.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10

The dish turns out delicious and beautiful. Make it for your family's health and treat your friends. Enjoy!
