Five-Minute Strawberry Jam

A wonderful dessert for tea — for lazy cooks!!! Five-minute strawberry jam is delicious and one of my favorite kinds of jam. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves strawberries and is looking for a good recipe to put them up for winter.

Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Gather the ingredients on the list.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Choose the freshest strawberries for the recipe. If they're too crushed, you'll lose some of the juice during cooking, and if they're spoiled, the jam won't taste very good.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Wash the strawberries under the tap for a couple of minutes and leave them in a colander to drain off the excess moisture. Once they've dried a bit, hull them so you can put completely cleaned, pretty berries into the pot.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Put the berries in a pot and cover them with sugar — half a kilo of sugar per kilo of berries. That's the ideal ratio. Wait a few hours for the berries to release their juice. It's best to leave them overnight, go to bed, and start making the jam the next morning. You could thin the juice with a little water afterward, but we won't.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Set the pot over the heat and bring the juice to a boil. From the moment it boils, the jam should cook for about five minutes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Skim off any foam as it forms. After cooking, let the jam cool completely, which may take quite a while.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

When it's done, ladle the jam into jars.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Seal the filled jars with lids.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

Our home stash of goodies now has a new treat in it.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10

    Give it a try!

  • I've often made strawberries all sorts of ways before, but I only recently learned this method for five-minute strawberry jam from a friend. It went straight into my favorites, so I wrote it down in the little notebook where I jot down my favorite recipes the old-fashioned way, so I don't have to part with them when I'm away from the computer and the internet. The jam turns out unbelievably, fabulously delicious. I'll admit I don't seal all of it into jars at once — I always leave enough for eating right away. We love it just with tea, as well as with all sorts of quick treats: crepes, pancakes, and syrniki. Strawberry jam is always in use and held in high regard at our house!
