Step 1:
Prepare the ingredients. Turn on the oven in grill mode or preheat in normal mode to 260C.
Step 2:
Peel the onion and cut it into thick rings, about 5-7 mm wide.
Step 3:
Cut the cheese into slices of arbitrary shape, which should fit the onion rings in size.
Step 4:
Cover the baking sheet with baking paper. Lay out the onion, sprinkle it with salt and pepper. Sprinkle dry herbs on top.
Step 5:
Sprinkle with olive oil.
Step 6:
Put the pieces of cheese on top. Place in the oven and bake for about 8 minutes. During this time, the onion should soften and lose its sharpness, but retain a slight crispness, and the cheese should melt and get golden. Serve the onion appetizer hot.
If you like it and want to repeat it, you can experiment with different types of cheese: the taste of the dish changes significantly with mozzarella, parmesan or blue cheese.
