Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Prepare the products. Melt the butter and let it cool.
Step 2:
Mix yeast with 1 h.l. sugar, pour in warm milk and leave for 15-20 minutes, until the "caps" appear.
Step 3:
Stir the eggs, pour 2 tablespoons, add salt, sugar to the rest and stir again.
Step 4:
Sift flour, make a hole. Pour the egg mixture into the hole, the yeast that has risen, stir. At the end of the kneading, pour in the cooled butter and knead the dough, first in a bowl. Then lubricate your hands and the table a little with vegetable oil and continue kneading on the table for 5 minutes. To a smooth, homogeneous state. The dough will no longer stick to your hands.
Step 5:
Lightly grease a clean bowl with vegetable oil. Round the dough and put it in a bowl, cover with a film and a napkin, leave in a warm place to rise for 1.5 hours.
Step 6:
The dough will double in size.
Step 7:
Divide it into 8 equal balls, 120 - 125g each. Form bagels: - In the middle of the ball, make a hole with your finger and scroll to stretch to the desired size.
Step 8:
Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil or spread the bagels on a padded mat, let them come up for 15-20 minutes. In the 2st.l. eggs left, add 2h.l. milk and gently lubricate the bagels that have come up. Sprinkle the top with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, sugar if desired. Bake in a preheated 200 degree oven for about 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
Step 9:
Cover the finished bagels directly on the baking sheet with a napkin and let them rest for 10 minutes. There is no need to lubricate anything, they will be soft anyway.
Step 10:
Bagels are airy and especially delicious with cool milk. Bon appetit !
