Step 1:
How to make mackerel in a jar in the oven baked with onions? You can cook from both fresh and frozen fish. The recipe used frozen mackerel. First of all, defrost the fish at room temperature. Prepare onions, carrots, sour cream, bay leaf, a few peas of black pepper and a pinch of salt.
Step 2:
Cut off the mackerel's heads and tails. Do not rush to throw them away, you can cook from them in the future a wonderful fish broth for soup or soup. Remove the insides and rinse the fish under running water. Cut the mackerel carcasses into pieces about two to three centimeters thick. Peel and wash the onions and carrots.
Step 3:
Cut the onion into rings or half rings (as you prefer), grate the carrot on a coarse grater, add salt and a little allspice to the sour cream if desired.
Step 4:
Pour sour cream over the fish pieces, mix well.
Step 5:
Wash and dry the jar. Put the onion and carrot on the bottom, then two or three pieces of mackerel. Repeat the layers one by one until you run out of components. Make the last layer of onions and carrots.
Step 6:
Add peppers and bay leaf to the jar.
Step 7:
Close the jar with an iron lid or wrap it with foil. Send the container with the fish to a cold oven, turn on the "top-bottom" mode and bake for about an hour at a temperature of 190-200 degrees. The baking temperature can be higher or lower, it depends on the capabilities of your oven.
Step 8:
Mackerel in a jar in the oven, baked with onions is ready. Remove the foil and holding the jar with a towel so as not to get burned, remove the fish with a spoon or fork.
Step 9:
Serve the mackerel hot, it is also very tasty when cold.
It is very important to put a full jar in a cold oven, so the container will gradually heat up along with the contents and will not burst at a hot temperature.
The amount of carrots can be reduced or completely excluded from the list of ingredients, the fish will turn out delicious and juicy in any case. Ready-made mackerel can be sprinkled with the juice of freshly squeezed lemon and sprinkled with finely chopped herbs.
