Step 1:
How to bake a herring in the oven? It turns out very tasty! Prepare all the necessary products. It is better to use single-thawed fish, because we definitely can't find fresh herring! It is best to defrost any fish on the shelf of the refrigerator farthest from the freezer. This is the most gentle way to preserve the taste of fish. Add salt, onion and lemon juice to the products.
Step 2:
Gut the herring, rinse well under a stream of cold water, drain with paper napkins. If there is caviar in the fish, leave it, put it in the abdomen, it is delicious and you can give it to the child without fear, because the herring itself is quite bony and you need to carefully choose the bones.
Step 3:
Rub the fish with salt from the outside and inside, pepper with fragrant black pepper from the mill, pour the juice from a lemon slice.
Step 4:
Peel and cut onion into half rings. Put part of it into the bellies of the herring, add a little lemon pulp and halves of caviar.
Step 5:
Line the bottom of a suitable-sized baking dish with a large piece of foil with hanging free edges for wrapping fish. Pour in a little oil and put the remaining onion. It will protect the saddle from accidental burning and will give a delicious filling.
Step 6:
Lay the "soldier"" stuffed herring. Lubricate the surface of the fish with oil.
Step 7:
Wrap the foil with a tight seam with a loose envelope and put it in an oven heated to 180 degrees for 20 minutes.
Step 8:
After 20 minutes, open the foil and put the fish back in the oven for browning.
Step 9:
That's it - our herring is baked in foil!
Step 10:
Serve the baked herring together with the baked onion and the resulting fish sauce.
Any dish baked in the oven is healthier than fried in oil in a frying pan. The usual herring will not be an exception. Baked in foil, it acquires a delicate taste, and the fish aroma is not as strong and annoying as when frying fish in a frying pan.
You can serve baked herring with a suitable side dish or as an independent dish. White sauces are very good for fish, for example, the simplest one is made of sour cream with horseradish added.
