Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Prepare the products. Instead of kefir, you can take any fermented milk product. Kefir may be old, it's even better, the more acidic the product, the better the reaction with baking powder will be, from which the buns will rise more. Instead of baking powder, you can take soda. It is not necessary to extinguish it, kefir will do it itself.
Step 2:
First of all, turn on the oven to warm up at 200 ° C, since the kneading will not take much time. Sift the flour. Pour baking powder, salt and sugar into it. Mix it up.
Step 3:
In a separate bowl, mix kefir and vegetable oil.
Step 4:
Pour the kefir into the flour mixture. Knead the dough. It is very well kneaded by hands. Additional flour may be needed in the process. Look at the condition of the test - it should be soft. It is not necessary to knead it for a long time, just mix everything well until smooth.
Step 5:
Place the dough on a work surface sprinkled with flour. Form a long sausage. Divide it into 8-10 identical parts.
Step 6:
Roll a ball out of each blank with your hands.
Step 7:
Cover the baking sheet with baking paper or a Teflon mat. Put the buns on it. Put them at a small distance from each other, when baking they will increase in size.
Step 8:
Bake the buns in the oven at 200 ° C for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
The buns turned out wonderful! Soft inside, with a crispy crust on the outside.
I baked a sweet version, but you can also cook a salty one. To do this, reduce the amount of sugar to one tablespoon, and increase the amount of salt to one and a half teaspoons. The salty version is well suited as a substitute for bread for soups, salads and second courses.
In sweet buns, you can add raisins, citrus zest, vanilla, pieces of chocolate.
Salty sprinkle sesame seeds or seeds on top, sweet - sugar or poppy seeds. Replace some of the flour in salted buns with whole grain, it will turn out not only tasty, but also useful.
Before baking, buns can be smeared with beaten yolk, then they will have a beautiful crust.
Such buns can be served both hot and cold.
