Greek snail with cheese and spinach from puff pastry

Spiral-shaped pie with a delicate salty filling! In this Greek Snail with cheese, puff pastry is used ready-made, so it is very easy and quick to cook. Thanks to the original molding, baking is obtained, which looks beautiful and unusual in the section. But, first of all, it is very tasty, and at the expense of spinach it is also useful!

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make a snail with puff pastry cheese? Prepare the products. My dough is yeast-free, it looks more like filo dough, from which such a pie is baked in Greece. Spinach can also be frozen, then it must be pre-thawed. Traditionally, brine cheese is used - feta or cheese. But you can replace it with any one that is at hand. My sesame is black. Remove the dough from the freezer in advance.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Let's do the filling first. Spinach, if it is fresh, rinse well and dry. Then finely chop it.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Put a frying pan on a small fire, pour vegetable oil on it. Put spinach. Push (sink) it is served for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spinach has the property of greatly decreasing in volume when quenching.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Take a bowl, put the boiled spinach there, cool it slightly. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Break one egg into the filling. The second will be used to lubricate the pie. Add a pinch of salt. Do not over-salt - the cheese is salty enough, take this into account.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

    Mix the filling.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Roll out the thawed soft dough on a work surface sprinkled with flour. Make it thin enough - just a few millimeters, then the cake will be more tender.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Cut the dough layer into long strips about 5 cm wide.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Put the filling on the strip. It is not necessary to put a lot, it may not pinch. And I also do not advise you to put all the stuffing on all the dough at once - it can soften. Do it better one strip at a time.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Pinch the edges of the dough, forming a long sausage. Pinch it from the edges too.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

    So make all the sausages.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Take a baking sheet, cover it with baking paper. Starting from the center, lay out the finished bundles of dough with stuffing, twisting them in a spiral. Put the sausages seam down, and when connecting, fasten them together. Tuck the end of the last bundle under the pie.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Beat the remaining egg lightly with a fork. Smear the pie on top with a beaten egg using a cooking brush - this will give it a ruddy crust when baking. You can take one yolk for this. If desired, sprinkle the cake with sesame seeds. I had only black, I sprinkled it.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

Bake the snail in the oven, preheated to 180 ° C, baking time - from 20 minutes to half an hour. Focus on the appearance of the pie. The finished cake is good both hot and cold.

I love snails! I always take them ready, this time I baked them myself. Simple, fast and very tasty!

In order for the oven to have time to heat up to the desired temperature, turn it on in advance (10-20 minutes before cooking).

Keep in mind that everyone has different ovens. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !
