Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
To prepare a roll with onions, take the products according to the list: wheat flour, yeast, water, sugar and salt for the dough, butter, onions and ground black pepper for the filling.
Step 2:
First prepare the dough: add sugar, salt and yeast to warm water, add a couple of tablespoons of flour and make a sourdough. Let it bubble up, add a little oil. Then gradually add the sifted flour to make a dough that comes off your hands.
Step 3:
Put the dough in a larger bowl, cover with a film and a towel, put it in a warm place for 2 hours, knock it out after an hour and let it rise again.
Step 4:
While the dough is rising, prepare the onion filling. Peel a few onions - 2-3 large ones, cut into large pieces.
Step 5:
Heat the oil and add the onion, simmer it until tender, lightly season with salt and pepper. Do not boil the onion, it is better when it retains its integrity - after all, it still has to bake, cool the filling.
Step 6:
After 2 hours, the dough came up - do you see how lush it is? A wonderful light, airy dough.
Step 7:
Roll out half of the dough into a layer, put the onion filling in the middle.
Step 8:
Roll the dough into a roll, pinch the edge tightly, the excess can be cut off.
Step 9:
Brush with sunflower oil (lean version) or egg and sprinkle with herbs or seeds - I took cumin, I really like its aroma and taste.
Step 10:
Bake the roll by placing it in a cold oven and turning it on at 170 degrees. When it is well browned - in 30-35 minutes - the roll is ready.
Step 11:
Remove the onion roll from the oven, cover it with a towel, let it rest. That's all! A lush, fragrant roll with onions at home is ready! Bon appetit!
