Homemade potato cakes (kartoplyaniki) with cabbage
Love potatoes? Try these patties with a cabbage filling! So tasty! The filling gives them a special flavor. These kartoplyaniki are best served with sour cream.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
So, let's make some tasty kartoplyaniki. We'll need about 800 g of potatoes. Peel them.
-
Step 2:
Salt to taste and put them on to cook.
-
Step 3:
Meanwhile, let's make the filling. Finely chop the onion.
-
Step 4:
Grate one carrot.
-
Step 5:
Prepare the cabbage. You'll want a special cabbage shredder for this.
-
Step 6:
I shredded half a head of cabbage.
-
Step 7:
Heat the skillet, pour in the oil, and saute the onion and carrot. Then add the cabbage, season with salt, pour in the water, and add the tomato paste. Simmer under a lid for 5 minutes, until done. Transfer the filling to a bowl to cool.
-
Step 8:
Our potatoes are cooked. Drain the water and let the potatoes sit on the stove a moment to dry out. Then mash them and add the egg.
-
Step 9:
Add the flour and mix everything quickly. I moved the potatoes to another bowl to let them cool down a bit.
-
Step 10:
Now set out the filling, the potato, and the breadcrumbs.
-
Step 11:
Scoop up some mashed potato with a spoon. Flatten it into a patty — it's easier if your hands are wet. Put a little filling in the middle.
-
Step 12:
Shape it into a little pie with your hands. Roll it in breadcrumbs.
-
Step 13:
Shape the rest of the patties from the remaining potato. Heat up the oil.
-
Step 14:
Fry them on both sides until golden. Put the finished ones on paper towels.
-
Step 15:
Our kartoplyaniki are ready! Help yourselves!
-
Step 16:
Enjoy!
