Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make pollock for a couple? Prepare the products. Pollock is usually sold frozen, defrost it according to all the rules of defrosting. Read about how to do this at the end of the recipe. Choose spices to taste, I limited myself only to ground black pepper. Instead of olive oil, you can take ordinary vegetable oil.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

I have pollock already gutted and without a head. If you have a fish with a head, then cut it off. Also remove the fins from the back and sides. It is very convenient to do this with scissors. Cut the belly of the fish, remove the insides and be sure to remove the black film, it is very bitter. Cut off the tail. Rinse the prepared carcasses from all sides, including inside. And then dry it well with paper towels.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Put the pollock carcasses in a bowl. Add salt to the fish, add your favorite spices and seasonings. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Pour oil on it, I took olive oil to make it even more useful. Rub all the ingredients into the fish with your hands, smearing it from all sides.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Pollock can be steamed both in an electric steamer (like mine) and in other appliances — a slow cooker, a microwave with such a function, in a special nozzle that is installed above the pan, and a regular colander will do. Put the fish in a steaming container.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Place it in the appliance or over the pan. If you cook on gas, then you can throw a couple of leaves of lavrushka into boiling water. You can't put anything in the water in my steamer. Pollock is steamed for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces. Since I have whole fish, I cooked for 15 minutes. Cook pollock pieces or fillets less.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Carefully remove the finished fish and serve hot with any suitable side dish or as a separate dish.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Serve the pollock steamed with a slice of lemon, herbs and some sauce suitable for fish. Enjoy your meal!

Note that the quality and taste of the finished dish largely depends on the proper defrosting of the ingredients. How to avoid mistakes and choose the best way, read the article about defrosting.

Since the degree of salinity, sweetness, bitterness, sharpness, acid, burning is individual for everyone, always add spices, spices and seasonings, focusing on your taste! If you put some of the seasonings for the first time, then keep in mind that there are spices that it is especially important not to shift (for example, chili pepper).

How to properly cut a whole fish into fillets? Remove the tail, head and fins. Cut the carcass along the spine to the spine. Turn it on its side. With a sharp knife, cut the meat from the backbone bone. Turn the carcass over and cut the fillet from the other side. Clean the inside by removing the black film, as it is bitter and will spoil the taste. Rinse and be sure to dry well.
