Soft waffles on kefir in a waffle iron

Rich, sweet waffles - it's impossible to break away! I think that this recipe should start with the inscription: caution, addictive! Hot, sweet, slightly crispy on the outside, but soft inside, such rich-tasting fluffy waffles on kefir. Just delicious and my favorite.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

In a deep bowl, beat in a chicken egg, add kefir, sugar and a pinch of salt to improve the taste of future waffles. Mix the ingredients with a whisk until smooth.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Sift premium wheat flour into a bowl. Add baking soda and baking powder. Sifting is extremely important for baking. It gives extra pomp to the dough. Therefore, I strongly do not recommend ignoring this stage. Why do we add both baking soda and baking powder? It's simple: our dough will be rich, buttery, and therefore very heavy. One baking powder will not cope with the rise of waffles here, I checked.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Mix the dough with a whisk or mixer. If you use a mixer, still first mix the flour into the dough with a whisk, otherwise at high speeds of the mixer it will fly apart. Soda is quenched here with acid from kefir. Therefore, there is no need to extinguish it with something extra. The dough already turns out with air bubbles inside.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

I have met the opinion that butter melted to a liquid state significantly worsens the quality of the finished baking. For example, I don't notice the difference... But if you adhere to this opinion, it is better to take the butter out of the refrigerator in advance, about ten minutes before the start of cooking waffles. Pour the oil into a bowl.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

And finally mix the dough. The oil makes it smooth and shiny. Mmm... yummy!

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Preheat the electric waffle iron according to the instructions. Lubricate the plates with a drop of sunflower oil. And distribute the first batch of dough with a tablespoon. Do not apply too much so that the dough does not go over the edges.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Fry the waffles for about five minutes until golden brown. I have a 450W waffle iron. Similarly, fry all the waffles.

The waffles came out sweet enough, you can slightly reduce the amount of sugar. Soda does not feel at all. Serve waffles, for example, with fresh berries.

The calorie content of the dish is, of course, high, but that's why the taste is on top! Sometimes you can pamper yourself and your loved ones.

Bon appetit!

Be prepared for the fact that you may need more or less flour than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!

The heating temperature for each waffle iron model is individual. Therefore, the exact cooking time for your appliance can only be determined experimentally. Adjust the baking time specified in the recipe, taking into account the characteristics of your waffle iron.
