Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make napa cabbage salad with orange? Gather the ingredients. Boil and cool the eggs ahead of time, and wash and dry the vegetables and herbs. Shred the napa cabbage into thin strips. You can cut the whole head or just individual leaves.
-
Step 2:
Cut the cucumber into cubes. Be sure to taste it first—a bitter one will ruin the salad.
-
Step 3:
In a deep salad bowl, combine the shredded napa cabbage and the cucumber. Cut the orange in half and then into wedges. Separate the flesh from the peel and cut it into small pieces, removing any seeds. Add the chopped orange to the salad.
-
Step 4:
Peel the boiled eggs and cut them into cubes. Finely chop the dill. Add the eggs and dill to the salad.
-
Step 5:
Dress the salad with mayonnaise and toss well. I usually don't salt salads dressed with mayonnaise, but season to your own taste. Chill the finished salad briefly in the refrigerator, then transfer to a serving bowl and serve. Enjoy!
- Instead of mayonnaise, you can dress this salad with sour cream or yogurt, or simply squeeze over a little lemon or orange juice. For a heartier salad, add some cooked chicken.
- The salad looks neat and pretty if you cut all the ingredients into pieces of the same size and shape (cubes, for example).
- How do you hard-boil eggs so they don't crack? Start them in cold water and cook over low heat. Boil for 9 minutes after the water comes to a boil, then transfer to cold water to cool. The sudden temperature change makes them easier to peel.
- It's best to make your own mayonnaise—it'll taste better and be better for you. You'll find some great homemade mayonnaise recipes here. You can also use sour cream or plain yogurt as a dressing instead of mayonnaise, on their own or blended with mayonnaise in any ratio you like, which cuts down the calories.
