Blackberry Jam

Remember Grandma's recipe? This one's even better—give it a try! Easy to make. A really tasty blackberry jam, though we don't make it often, since we don't have a country garden and blackberries are hard to come by.

  • Blackberries pack a full range of nutrients and vitamins. They're especially good for shoring up a vitamin deficiency and giving your body an overall boost. You can make various remedies from the berries and leaves, but use them only after checking with your doctor first, since blackberries can be risky for stomach and kidney conditions. The jam itself is quite simple to make. Sort the blackberries, wash them, and remove any debris and stems. Then dry the berries with a clean, dry towel. Make a sugar syrup from the water and sugar and add the blackberries. Bring the mixture to a boil, then let it stand for 12 hours (usually overnight). The next day, finish cooking the jam until done and pour it, still hot, into clean, dry jars. Store the jam in a dark place.
