Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 6 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare all the necessary products. To make jam, I advise you not to take too ripe fruits of pears - they will boil and you will get porridge. Take dense and elastic fruits, firm to the touch. I took the usual white sugar. But now there are many different types of sugar: you can take coconut and it will give the jam a light coconut flavor, or cane sugar - it will give a caramel tint.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Wash the pears well - it is best to use a special fruit washing tool and a brush for this procedure. Cut off the stalks, remove the seed pod and cut into slices about 3-4 mm thick.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Put the sliced pears in the bowl where you will cook the jam (it is best if it is a dish with a thick bottom).

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Add sugar and leave for a few hours for the pear to give juice. In any case, do not add water to the jam: there should be only fruit and sugar.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

When the fruits give juice, put the dishes on a minimum heat. At this stage, lovers of spicy jam can add their favorite spices: vanilla sugar or vanilla, cinnamon, ground ginger, cloves, nutmeg are perfect. You can also take vanilla pods, cinnamon sticks, clove buds (only then do not forget to remove them from the finished jam), so ground spices are also quite suitable - one pinch of each seasoning will be enough for the flavor.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Bring the jam to a boil and cook on low heat for 40 minutes, constantly removing the foam that will form on the surface.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Cook until the jam thickens and acquires a beautiful amber color.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Wash the jars, sterilize them in any convenient way. I put cans of water in the microwave for 5 minutes, but you can sterilize them in the oven, and just pour boiling water. Boil the lids.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Put the finished jam in jars and close or roll up the lids. You can spread the jam both hot and cold. Sterilization is not required. Such jam is stored in ordinary apartment conditions.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

    Have a nice tea party!
