Put up some delicious applesauce for your little one. Pure goodness! Instead of buying it at the store, I make my own purées from all kinds of fruits and vegetables. The kids adore it—and not just the youngest one. A whole jar of vitamins with not a gram of sugar or any other unhealthy additives!

    1. Wash the apples, peel them, cut them in half, and remove the cores. 2. Put the apples in a pot—preferably enameled—add the water, and set it on the stove. Bring to a boil. 3. Simmer the apples over low heat until soft. This takes 5 to 10 minutes. 4. Purée the apples with a blender or mash them with a wooden masher. The blender gives you a smoother purée. 5. Bring the purée back to a boil, let it bubble for a couple of minutes, then spoon it into small sterilized jars or one large one. Let the finished purée cool in a warm spot. All done!
