Cooking method

Cooking time: 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Gather all the ingredients for the gravy. If your chicken breast is frozen, thaw it first.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Cut the chicken breast into small, roughly even pieces.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Heat a skillet until hot and add a little vegetable oil. Add the chopped chicken and fry over high heat for a few minutes, until golden.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

While the meat fries, peel the onions and carrot and rinse them with water. Chop the onion and grate the carrot on the coarse side of a grater.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Add the chopped vegetables to the skillet with the meat. Fry everything together for 3–5 minutes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Then add a little water to the skillet, cover, and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Add a little salt and spices to taste.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Near the end of cooking, stir a little water together with the flour and sour cream in a separate glass. Mix well so no flour lumps remain.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Pour the entire contents of the glass into the skillet. Bring to a boil and turn off the heat. The chicken gravy is ready! Serve it with any side dish. Enjoy!

  • You can make a huge variety of dishes from chicken breast, and this meat gravy is one of them. You can base the gravy on cream, sour cream, or tomato paste — a new base means a new dish and a new flavor every time. You can vary the flavor further with different spices. I love adding dried basil to meat dishes; in my opinion it goes beautifully with chicken. For a side, serve the gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or spaghetti — buckwheat works great too. Any way you serve it, you're guaranteed a tasty, filling dinner. Round it out with a fresh vegetable salad. Enjoy!
