A simple, tasty, budget-friendly dish for lunch or dinner! Chicken hearts stewed in sour cream come together quickly and easily. There's no fuss — you can make the whole thing in a single skillet, which means fewer dishes and less work in the kitchen. And stewing the hearts in sour cream gives them a firm yet tender bite and a pleasant creamy flavor.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Gather the ingredients for chicken hearts in sour cream with onions. Chicken hearts are a very tasty variety meat, and one secret to cooking them well is choosing them properly. The hearts should be dark red; a blue or brown color means the product isn't fresh. It's best to buy chilled rather than frozen, since chilled retains more nutrients. Rinse the chicken hearts and trim off the excess fat and membranes.
-
Step 2:
Cut the chicken hearts into small pieces. Rinse them once more to remove any blood clots and remaining membrane and fat. Peel the onion and finely chop it with a knife.
-
Step 3:
Pour the vegetable oil into a skillet and heat it up. Add the chopped onion and fry, stirring with a spatula, until it turns translucent.
-
Step 4:
Then add the chicken hearts to the onions. Stir and simmer, covered, over low heat for about 20 minutes. Remove the lid and stir the hearts and onions together.
-
Step 5:
Add the sour cream, ground black pepper, and salt. If the sour cream is too thick, pour in a little water. Stir. Cover again and simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes. The dish is ready. Serve the chicken hearts on their own or with any side dish you like.
-
Step 6:
Chicken hearts stewed in sour cream go well with rice, buckwheat, mashed potatoes, pasta, or stewed vegetables. The result is both delicious and very good for you: chicken hearts support healthy circulation, boost hemoglobin, help the body recover after illness, and strengthen the immune system. Enjoy!
