Boiled Potatoes
A versatile side dish: it goes with meat, fish, chicken and vegetables. Its sheer ease wins you over. Boiled potatoes pair with almost any meat, vegetable or fish dish. My own favorite is to eat these potatoes with salted fish or mushrooms.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Everyone probably knows how to boil potatoes, but the first time I did it, I couldn't find a single recipe anywhere. So now I'll show you how to make boiled potatoes as a delicious side dish. Gather the ingredients from the list.
-
Step 2:
Wash and peel the potatoes.
-
Step 3:
Then cut them into fairly large pieces and rinse again.
-
Step 4:
Put the potatoes in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Turn the burner to high and set the pot on it. When the water boils, add salt to taste, lower the heat, cover, and cook the potatoes until fully tender.
-
Step 5:
Wash and chop the dill. You can add parsley or other herbs to the dill, to taste.
-
Step 6:
Check whether the potatoes are done with a fork. You can pierce them with a knife, of course, but only if you have a knife you don't mind ruining, since boiling water damages most knives. Once the potatoes are cooked, drain the water.
-
Step 7:
Add a knob of butter and the dill to the pot of potatoes. Cover the pot and shake it a couple of times so the butter and dill are evenly distributed throughout. By the way, if you overcook the potatoes, shaking can break them down almost to a mash, so keep a close eye on them while they cook.
-
Step 8:
Serve the potatoes with fresh or roasted vegetables, all kinds of salads, goulash, fish, or anything your heart desires — it'll be delicious!!!
-
Step 9:
Enjoy!
- This simple dish always saves the day when you don't feel like fussing over lunch for a long time, or when you're desperately short on time. You peel them and put them on to boil, and in the meantime you quickly throw together a tasty salad. You can also slice up some salted salo (cured pork fat) to make it more filling. And if you already have some cooked meat on hand, just heat it up and serve it with the potatoes. Fried fish, on the other hand, can be enjoyed cold. In short, there are lots of options — the main thing is these delicious potatoes!
