  • I'd love to share an easy recipe for anyone who often doesn't have time for elaborate cooking — I'm right there with you, which is why I keep collecting simple recipes like this. It all comes together fast, and it's filling, satisfying, and delicious. My husband absolutely loved it, so now I always keep a jar of canned stew in the fridge. 1. Wash and peel the potatoes, cut them into large sticks or cubes, and fry them in the fat from the canned stew until half-cooked. 2. Peel and dice the onion, then sauté it in the remaining fat until translucent. Cut the pickles into sticks. Sprinkle the flour over the onion, add the tomato paste and pickles, and thin with a little water. Simmer for 5–7 minutes. 3. Add the potatoes and the mashed canned stew to the vegetables, then pour in water — use as much as you like. My husband loves plenty of gravy, so I added enough to nearly cover everything. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and add any spices you like. Simmer everything for 15–20 minutes. Turn off the heat, sprinkle the azu with fresh herbs, and enjoy!
