Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to make mackerel with onions and carrots in a frying pan? prepare the necessary ingredients for this. Mackerel is best to choose not frozen, but chilled. If it is frozen, then take it out of the freezer in advance and leave it at room temperature so that it thaws on its own.
Step 2:
Cut off the mackerel's head and tail. Remove the insides and black films. Rinse the fish well inside and out. Blot it with paper towels to remove excess water from it. Cut the mackerel into pieces, 3-4 cm thick.
Step 3:
Peel onions and carrots and rinse them from dirt. Chop the onion not very finely, and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
Step 4:
Heat the frying pan to a hot state and pour a little vegetable oil. Lay out the onion and carrot. Fry the vegetables for 1-2 minutes to make them softer.
Step 5:
Then put the prepared pieces of mackerel in the pan. Distribute the onion and carrot evenly between the pieces and spread a little over them.
Step 6:
Add salt and spices to taste. For flavor, put a bay leaf. I usually use spices for fish. Pour some water into the pan and cover with a lid. Cook over low heat for 20-25 minutes. If necessary, you can add a little more water.
Step 7:
Mackerel with onions and carrots is ready! The fish departs well from the bones and smells very tasty! Arrange the pieces of fish on plates and serve hot. Bon appetit!
You can check whether the oil has warmed up well enough in a frying pan in a simple way. Lower a wooden spatula into it. If bubbles have gathered around it, then you can start the frying process.
To avoid irritating the mucous membrane of the eyes when slicing onions, rinse the onion and knife with cold water. The cutting board will not absorb the unpleasant onion smell if you rub it with a piece of lemon before slicing.
Important! An incorrectly selected frying pan can ruin even the best recipe. All the details on how to choose the perfect frying pan for different dishes read here .
