Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to bake a whole chicken on salt? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Take the chicken fresh, not flabby, the skin should fit the meat tightly.
Step 2:
Wash and dry the chicken with paper towels. If there are any remaining feathers on the chicken, remove them.
Step 3:
In a bowl, combine liquid honey and vegetable oil and mix well until smooth. If the honey is candied, pre-melt it in the microwave or steamed.
Step 4:
Rinse the lemon thoroughly, dry it. Make deep incisions all over the lemon with a knife so that the juice from it evaporates better during the baking of the chicken.
Step 5:
Put a whole lemon in the prepared carcass. If desired, before adding lemon, you can add salt and pepper inside the chicken.
Step 6:
Pour salt on a baking sheet or into a baking dish and flatten.
Step 7:
Put the chicken back down on the salt so that the juice flows out of it more slowly and the bird retains its juiciness. You can also tie the legs of the bird with a culinary thread. Top the chicken with honey-butter mixture. It is honey that will form a crispy, ruddy crust on the chicken.
Step 8:
To prevent the tips of the wings and legs from burning, you can wrap them with pieces of foil. Put the chicken in a preheated 180 ° C oven and bake for about 1.5 hours until a golden brown crust appears. Periodically lubricate the bird with the remnants of the honey mixture from the bowl, because the juice that will flow out of the bird itself will be absorbed into the salt.
Step 9:
To check the readiness of the bird, pierce the meat with a knife: if the knife enters easily and the light juice flows, then it is ready, if the juice is pink or red, you need to continue cooking. Bon appetit!
