Step 1:
How to bake a whole chicken with a crust in the oven? There is nothing easier. First, prepare the necessary ingredients. The basis is vegetable oil, honey and spices. Honey needs liquid, unsaccharified. If the honey is candied, first melt it in a water bath or in a microwave and cool it. The more fragrant the honey, the tastier the crust on the bird will turn out. I have buckwheat honey, but any other will do.
Step 2:
Combine vegetable oil, liquid honey, paprika, curry, dry garlic, ground pepper and salt in a bowl. Instead of paprika, garlic powder and curry, you can use a ready-made mixture of spices for chicken. However, often salt and pepper are already present in such mixtures, keep this in mind so as not to over-salt and pepper the dish.
Step 3:
Mix everything thoroughly until smooth. This marinade with honey will provide the bird with a crispy crust and at the same time clogs the pores in the skin, preventing excessive evaporation of moisture during baking. So the bird will retain juiciness.
Step 4:
Wash the chicken inside and out and dry it thoroughly with paper towels. If the chicken is not dried, the marinade mixture will drain from the skin, do not delay.
Step 5:
Coat the chicken with honey-oil mixture on all sides and inside the carcass. Leave the bird to marinate at room temperature for 1 hour. If possible, it is better to leave it in the refrigerator overnight.
Step 6:
Put the chicken on a baking sheet or in a baking dish with the back down and tie the legs with a culinary thread.
Step 7:
Cover the tips of the wings with pieces of foil so that they do not burn. Put the chicken in a preheated 180 ° C oven and bake for about 1 hour until a golden brown crust appears. Determine the exact time by your oven! Periodically lubricate the bird with juice from the bottom of the mold.
Step 8:
Transfer the finished chicken with a crispy crust to a dish, add baked potatoes, broccoli, red onion, herbs and serve to the table. Bon appetit!
